A Scottish Sunset with Style

10th of October 2012 and it's been another nice and clear day.

The sunset however was unusually clear .

The sun is setting behind Eigg to the left and the 'peaks' to the right are those of Rum

Surprise Visitor to Invercaimbe

9th October 2012 was a cool but sunny day so we where outside enjoying some late rays when this happened:

A Visit To Smirisary

Smirisary is a old fishing village on the West Coast of Scotland beyond Glen Uig.

It is remote to say the least with no road, no electricity, water or sewage. The only access to Smirisary is by boat or walking.

The view from the top of the hill that you descend to Smirisary which is often boggy and needs boots

The islands from the left is Muck, Eigg with Rum in the background and to the right.

The old houses are built of stone and without any mortar just good old fashioned skill

The views out to the Atlantic via Eigg are stunning

But life is returning to Smirisary as more & more of the ruins are being converted to holiday houses but only for the hardy!

Our RHIB has an issue

Alas we discover the Starboard tube is full of water and air which is not good.

Alas the tides did not give us time to apply the highly complex glueing process to complete the repair.

With the kind help of one of our neighbours (Jamie) we used his kayak to support the deflated side.

A Very Scottish Summer Storm

22nd July 2012 and the good weather has bugged out.

All we are left with is a wee bit entertainment watching the rain and wind doing their best to damage what ever they can.

The white streak is a plan heading towards USA and not I regret a shooting star

Portrait of a Mallaig Seagull

Morar Sands
This is the view from the bridge on the road to Mallaig. Looking west along the River Morar to where it meets the sea and you can just make out Rum on the horizon.

The view to the East of the bridge where the very short River Morar meets the sea from Loch Morar.

My Favourite Place In The World

Scotland's Caribbean Beach

Tucked away and out of plain sight, this stunning beach can only be reached by sea or foot.

The incredible white sands and the natural water quality together with the lagoon shape, makes this a great wee place for a picnic, swim (conditions depending) or just a chill.

The exact location is a local secret but it's Arisaig way.

The images and videos will convey much more than I could ever say. All I will say is that Liz found the most ever Cowrie shells in one place.

This is indeed my most favourite place

A Trip to Borrodale Bay and Beyond by Rhib

Today 12th July 2012, Liz & I headed out on the Rhib South and after a wee tour through the North Channel, towards Arisaig, we decided to head down to Rhu Beach.

Alas there were other humans on our beach damn them, we continued along the loch towards Borrodale Bay.

The Go Pro was rigged in a new position, but the battery (doh) died after only 10 images were taken.

However I did remember to take a 'normal' camera and shot these:

A very short clip showing the stunning beauty of the Scottish West Coast as seen from the see on a RHIB

This was shot between Borrodale Bay near Arisaig, Scotland and Prince Charlie's Cairn on the Fort William to Mallaig Road

Another video from another angle to try and share the absolute majesty of the location.

Some stills be they just are inadequate to show the stunning Scottish scenery

Looking East towards the Viaduct

This is the East view along Loch non Uamh towards the Fort William to Mallaig Road

We anchored in this bay for a quick drink (Water only and a wee snack) while we re-fuelled for the return journey via the South Channel to Arisaig and then out through the North Channel and back to Invercaimbe

A Rib Trip to Eigg

On an unusually still evening, I took the rib for a spin straight out to Eigg and then followed the Eastern shore south and back again.

Averaged 24 knts and approx 35 mins crossing time.

Jubilee Day 2012

On the day of the National Holiday to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, the Fergie Family (except Tom) went to the Crazy Golf in Dunfermline

The pictures speak for themselves:

It was very competitive

Thinking Rachael is coughing away her embarrassment while Hannah and Emily snigger in the background!
Liz coaching in the finer art of how to play crazy golf

Emily playing golf!!
Keith managed to get a Hole in One at the 18th and a sign promised great treasure!
The 'treasure' was a free round of golf! Keith blagged a free coffee and gave the free round to Emily.
Rachael making friends

Only a Father could love this lot!

A teacher in training!
